Telus posts Q2 net loss on C$500M goodwill impairment despite 4% revenue growth

Telus Corporation reported second-quarter 2025 operating revenues and other income of C$5.08 billion, up from C$4.97 billion a year ago, driven by higher service revenue of C$4.49 billion. The company recorded a net loss of C$245 million versus net income of C$221 million in Q2 2024, reflecting a C$500 million goodwill impairment charge related to Telus International. Operating income fell sharply to C$175 million from C$682 million. Net income attributable to common shares was just C$7 million as non-controlling interests absorbed C$252 million of the loss. Diluted EPS for common shareholders was effectively nil in the quarter compared with C$0.15 a year ago. Cash and temporary investments improved to C$3.68 billion from C$869 million at year-end 2024.
