Jumia Q1 2025: orders +21% but revenue falls 26% on Egypt corporate sales drop
Jumia reported first quarter 2025 revenue of $36.3 million, down 26% year over year (18% lower in constant currency), primarily because of a sharp decline in higher-margin corporate sales in Egypt versus the prior-year quarter. GMV fell 11% to $161.7 million, but orders rose 21% to 5.1 million and quarterly active customers increased 15%, reflecting stronger underlying consumer momentum—March GMV was up 16% year over year. Operating loss widened to $18.7 million from $8.3 million, and adjusted EBITDA loss was $15.7 million versus $4.3 million a year ago. Loss before income tax improved to $16.5 million from $39.6 million, helped by a $33.5 million swing in net finance results. Liquidity was $110.7 million at March 31, and management raised full-year 2025 loss-before-tax guidance to $50M–$55M while targeting breakeven in Q4 2026.
