Briefing
Global Ship Lease posted $198.1M in Q1 operating revenue and $91.4M net income ($2.54 EPS) as charter renewals and new vessel additions lifted results despite lower YoY EPS without prior-year vessel sale gains.
Global Ship Lease reported first-quarter 2026 operating revenue of $198.1 million, up 3.7% from $191.0 million a year earlier, driven by higher charter renewal rates and the addition of three newly acquired 8,586 TEU containerships, partially offset by 2025 sales of Tasman, Keta, Akiteta and fourth-quarter 2025 sale of Dimitris Y. Operating income was $97.4 million versus $128.5 million in Q1 2025, when a $28.5 million vessel-sale gain boosted the prior-year comparison; net income available to common shareholders was $91.4 million ($2.54 EPS) versus $121.0 million ($3.40 EPS). Normalized net income was $92.1 million ($2.56 normalized EPS), and Adjusted EBITDA rose to $133.2 million from $132.3 million. Fleet utilization improved to 98.2% from 93.7% with only 118 offhire days versus 406 in the prior year. Contracted revenue backlog reached $2.05 billion over 2.6 weighted-average years, with 100% of 2026 and 86% of 2027 charter days covered. Cash and cash equivalents were $404.9 million at March 31, 2026; total debt was $657.8 million with 23 unencumbered vessels. The board declared a $0.625 quarterly dividend payable June 3, 2026.
